Maia Dunphy has opened up about life as a working mum, revealing she has had to put certain career goals on hold to focus on her family.

The Irish broadcaster has a three-year-old son with Johnny Vegas, and admits it can be tough to find the right gig to suit her lifestyle.

Maia, who has been working on a number of writing projects over the last couple of months, has now struck the perfect balance.

“I’d love to be doing morning radio and evening telly, but my little boy has to come first,” she told VIP Magazine.

“I’m lucky with my job because it really fits in with looking after Tom.”

She continued, “I love writing. There’s a children’s book I’ve written already in with the publishers, but it does need a bit of work.

“My best friend and I wrote it together, but we’re still working on edits for that. It’s something we’re very proud of. It’s a big one.”

As well as her upcoming book, the Dubliner has been pitching ideas for new tv shows.

“I’ve a couple in with RTE,” she said.

“I’m also working on another writing project in the UK that I can’t really talk too much about just yet. It’s for TV.”

Maia will be hosting the Peter Mark VIP Magazine again this year, which take place on April 26th.
