Maïa Dunphy will continue her late mother’s traditions once again this Christmas.
While she admits it is “very difficult” to do this, she knows how important it all is.
Speaking to VIP Magazine, she tells us about her Christmas plans for this year.
“Last year was the first time without my mum I lost my mum last year and she was the queen of Christmas so last year was very difficult trying to do all her traditions on special recipes,” she confesses.
“This year we’re doing the same. We’re going to my dad’s house, my sister is coming back from the UK, she lives in London. My brother will be there, my little boy and my auntie.
“I think especially if you have lost someone without getting too sad, I’m a more the merrier kind of person so I’m having some family friends around because my family is tiny. Everyone’s welcome. Well not everyone. Text me first.”
She beams at this last part!
“Sometimes I think when you have a high following on social media you forget that you’re sharing with a lot of people. It wasn’t intentional. Grief is just very raw and for the first few months, I found it astonishingly difficult.
“It was never actually intentional, I just wanted to share pictures of her and tell people how wonderful she was. Other people got in touch to say that that’s what they felt like doing as well. I think you must do what’s right for you.”
