Louise Duffy feels “very lucky” about radio success

Louise Duffy returned to radio a year ago.

She took over from Ronan Collins after he announced his retirement in December 2022.

Now speaking to VIP Magazine, she confesses: “The last year has been quite hectic for me, getting into a rhythm with the show.”

She admits that she and her husband, Paul Galvin really do have separate work lives.

“That’s healthy for us, because we can then come home and talk about our different jobs. For us, work is work and home is an entirely different space.”

As for her new role on RTÉ Radio 1 she tells us that she “loves it”.

“I feel very lucky. The show has really found its place. It’s one year now since I started and it took some time to get to know the listeners, what they want and need at that time of the day, and it feels very comfortable now.

“There’s always something to learn, new music to find, old music to discover, so it’s such an exciting position for me to have. I adore it. I’m thrilled that it’s work, that it’s my job.”

She goes on to tell us that she is “relieved” that over 210,000 people are tuning into her radio show and she is keeping Ronan’s legacy alive.
