Nothing says Christmas quite like a trip to the panto. From big productions in theatres and concert halls nationwide to smaller ones in local schools, you’ll be sure to find a show in close proximity, regardless of your location.

Whether your in Dublin, Limerick, Cork or anywhere in between, a range of high-profile stars will be appearing in the shows throughout the country- so keep an eye out! Throw on your best Christmas jumper and prepare for an evening of light-hearted fun with all the family!

The Chocolate List

The Chocolate List (10)

The Dylan Hotel have launched a new indulgent hot chocolate menu, and it’s not to be missed. The Chocolate List which partners up with Cocoa Atelier to create some of the most delicious hot chocolates in Dublin, is available all throughout the festive period. Choose from a list six mouth watering options, and maybe even add a shot of something stronger to make it a christmas party night out!

Looking for a quirky little gift to give your friends and family? Well Coca-Cola’s pop up shop on South William’s Street might just have you covered. Whatever you decide to buy your nearest and dearest, parcel their gifts in some personalised wrapping paper. Stand in front of the camera, pose up a storm and then add some festive emojis and a fun little message. Who wouldn’t want a gift with your face on the paper?! Plus, it’s free!

Mulligan and Haines

After a long day spent Christmas shopping, there’s nothing better than stepping in from the cold and sitting down to a nice meal. If cooking is the last thing on your mind after lugging bags around all day, why not head to Mulligan and Haines? Located on Dame Street, the pub serves everything from lavish cocktails and nibbles, to roast dinners and burgers. There’s something for everyone and we swear, you won’t be disappointed with the food here. Our recommendation? Try the bread and butter pudding for something sweet before you leave. It’s unlike anything we’ve tried before!

Winterval

winterval

Waterford town has been transformed into a winter wonderland in the run up to Christmas, and is the perfect way to spend a weekend with any kids in your life – or even just your pals! The festival has a huge array of both free and ticketed events which are definitely worth checking out, for a cheap and cheerful few hours away.

Team VIP had the pleasure of going to Waterford, where we enjoyed a horse drawn sleigh ride around the town, before taking a trip to Waterford on Ice. There’s giant ferris wheel close by the waterfront, and a Winterval express train to take you around the town – best enjoyed with a hot chocolate in hand from one of the many market stalls scattered around the village, may we add.

To keep the little ones happy, there’s a fantastic vintage carousel – plus Santa’s Grotto is open for business. While you have to pre-book this, it’s definitely worth a trip just to see the main man before his big day at the end of the month.

There’s accommodation galore in Waterford, such as Dooley’s and the Granville, both just a few minutes away from all the activity in the centre of town.
