Late Late Show fans were left very impressed with international pop sensation Ed Sheeran after he sat down with host Ryan Tubridy.

The most touching moment of the show has to be when Ed shared his appreciation for Ryan, presenting the broadcaster with a gift, to mark his upcoming departure from the Late Late Show.

With the pop star saying:  “Before we go, before we say goodbye – ’cause I know you’ve been very, very good to me over the years… I wanted to give you my guitar.”

Ryan was extremely moved by the gesture, sharing: “Oh my God, are you serious? Thank you!”

“You know what, I have a guitar at home – this is one of my secrets that I’ve never shared – and I have about four chords, it’s all I need, and every now and again I might pick it up and strum away quietly. But now… I have no excuse! I’d like to apologise to my neighbours in advance.”

Ryan also presented Ed with a sweet gift, a Wexford GAA jersey, the home county of Ed’s grandmother. Making the gift even more special, the jersey had the names of Ed’s children and wife on it. Saying: “Lyra”, “Jupiter”, “Cherry” and “Sheeran”

“I’m really excited for them to grow up and know their Irish roots, it’s going to be great taking them over here,” The A-Team singer explained up receiving the gift.

During the actual interview, the Halifax native didn’t hold back, opening up about very person matters including the death of his friend music entrepreneur Jamal Edwards and his wife Cherry’s cancer diagnosis.

Revealing how these events inspired his latest album Subtract. As Ed explained: “It’s definitely helped me open up. Writing the songs helped me address things. I would never ever have admitted any of this stuff to anyone and it was only throughout making this album and my wife actually being like ‘I actually think that there’s a problem here and you might benefit from speaking to someone’”
