On Saturday we heard the sad news the RTE broadcaster and journalist Keelin Shanley had passed away.
At just 51, Keelin had been battling cancer for the second time in her life and passed away peacefully on Saturday afternoon.
She leaves behind her husband, Conor and two children, Lucy and Ben.
Speaking to the Irish Daily Star, Conor shared that it was only last Thursday that they discovered doctors could do no more to save Keelin from the disease.
“The approach to everyone else was just to get on with it so even like when they told us on Thursday that pretty much it was the end of the line, she accepted that.”
Up until then “Her approach to life was just ‘keep going’,” he said but that they “didn’t realise how quickly ‘it’ was going to be. It was very peaceful in the end.”
When asked if he had any regrets he shared;
“You just have to let that be enough, I suppose, and not get tied up too much in regrets. I’m sure that will come but at the moment you’re in a bubble of love and support.”
