John and Edward Grimes have received a substantial pay cut for their appearance on this year’s Celebrity Big Brother.
The Lucan twins first appeared on the celebrity reality show in 2011, two years after they finished sixth on The X Factor, and they were paid €1 million for their short stint in the house.
Celebrity Big Brother returned to our screens on Tuesday night and this year it has a number of high profile housemates including; Bianca Gascoigne, Heidi and Spencer Pratt, Calum Best, Ray J and Coleen Nolan.
Jedward returned to the famous house as late arrivals on Friday night and despite receiving a frosty reception from the crowd, the boys remained lively and wore their smiles wide as they made their way to the house.
However, this time around there’s not much for the boys to smile about as their 2017 pay deal is a far cry from their €1million payday in 2011. This year they’ll only be receiving €35,000 each for their appearance on the show – which is €930,000 less than their first Big Brother pay out!
“Big Brother does pay big money for guests but this time around it went on some of the more well-known housemates.” A source told the Mail on Sunday.
“Ray-J is getting a serious pay out and Jedward are not the big draw they once were. They are getting €35,000 each for going in to the house.Yes, it’s a far cry from the €1m, but that was when they had their own TV show and were touring and, of course, had Louis Walsh as a manager.”
Regardless of the pay cut, we’ve no doubt Jedward will be just as entertaining this year as they were in 2011!
