Rugby stars, including Jamie Heaslip, will star in a new documentary which aims to raise awareness about the frustrations and challenges people confined to wheelchairs experience in Ireland.
The Leinster player will be joined by fellow Irish rugby stars including Felix Jones, Shane Byrne and David Wallace as they travel from Dublin to Limerick in a wheelchair for the TV3 show.
Jamie was injured earlier this year, when he fractured three vertebrae, and admitted it’s what pushed him to get involved with the doc, entitled ‘Rugby’s Wheelchair Challenge’.
“We play a fairly physical sport and we are all well aware that accidents can happen but that really brought it home to me,” he says in one episode.
“People are playing a sport they love and in moments their life can change. That’s why I am here today to really get a feel first-hand what it’s like for people in wheelchairs trying to travel around Dublin and Ireland.”
He added: “People are playing a sport they love and in moments their life can change.”
The programme will air on Friday October 9th at 10.30pm on TV3, and we’re definitely going to be tuning in!
Meanwhile, check out who was voted the sexiest Irish rugby star recently – and unfortunately for Jamie, it’s not him!
