Una Healy has shared her thoughts ahead of beginning her new presenting gig on RTE this weekend.
Admitting that she feels like she is part of a girl band again, Una will be working alongside Kildare musician Loah to co-host a brand new weekend music show ‘The Heart Of Saturday Night’.
Explaining how honoured she feels to be hosting a show which will platform Irish talents both big and small including Imelda May and Kodaline. Casting back to when she was first starting out on her career she said:
“I remember being in a bar one night, sometimes there’d be a rowdy crowd in and I’d do covers of these drinking songs to keep them entertained”
“Then, other nights, there’d be two or three people in. I used to sing my own stuff at those gigs and I used to close my eyes and pretend I was on Other Voices with the likes of Bell X1 and Declan O’Rourke.”
Sharing how excited she is to kick off the six-part series this weekend Una continued:
“It’s great, because I came from being in The Saturdays – a group of five completely different girls – and it just worked”
“And I love to be part of a team. That’s one thing about being solo. I miss that element of having the girls and someone to bounce off”
“With this, I love to be co-presenting because it’s a whole different dynamic. We bounce off each other and it’s like… Girl Power”
You can catch The Heart Of Saturday Night this Saturday night July 24th on RTE One at 9.30pm.
