Dermot O’Leary joked that he might be getting the sack from The X Factor after playing a hilarious prank on his boss, Simon Cowell on last night’s show.
The British-Irish presenter made his highly anticipated return to the talent show this year after being replaced by Olly Murs and Caroline Flack on last year’s series – and now he suspects he might be given his marching orders once more after humiliating Simon Cowell live on air.
This week’s theme was disco hits and to get into the swing of things, the host shared a hilarious throwback picture of Simon Cowell in the ’80’s.
“The heyday of disco was a time when people put their glad rags on and they headed out for a night of fun fun fun on the dance floor…” Dermot told the audience.
“I just wish right now that there was a photograph that could show us just how great that time was.”
The photo showed Simon flexing his muscles in a white tank top alongside former girlfriend Sinitta Renet Malone.
Luckily for Dermot, Simon took the throwback picture all in good fun, but that didn’t stop The X Factor host joking that he was going to be sacked for the second time.
“Up next it is the girls again so we’ll do the hustle over to their mentor who’s probably about to sack me – again!” Dermot said.
