Irish stars have begun to pay tribute to Caroline Aherne, following the announcement of her untimely death just hours ago.
Caroline Aherne was an actress and writer, best known for the comedic value she brought to her roles and writing.
She was best known for writing The Royle Family and being the narrator of hit show, Gogglebox.
The star was diagnosed with lung cancer two years ago and sadly lost her battle with the disease earlier this morning.
Irish stars including, Maia Dunphy, Simon Delany and Marian Keys have taken to Twitter to share their condolences after her passing.
