Katie McCabe has officially begun a new chapter in her football career after signing for the club she supported growing up.
The Irish football star has joined Chelsea following her departure from Arsenal, bringing an end to a remarkable 10-year spell with the North London side.
Confirming the move, Katie admitted she is eager to get started in the famous blue jersey.
“It feels amazing, I’m so excited to be here,” she said in her first interview as a Chelsea player.
“It’s been crazy the last few weeks getting everything organised. For me, I’m so happy and excited to get going in a blue shirt.”

The move is particularly special for the Ireland captain, who revealed she has a long-standing connection to the club.
“It’s no secret, Chelsea have always been part of my family growing up,” she explained.
“My brother’s been a massive supporter; I was a Chelsea supporter growing up as well. So for my family, they’ll be very proud.”
Katie announced her departure from Arsenal in May after spending a decade with the club, where she established herself as one of the most respected players in the women’s game.

Speaking about her decision to make the switch, the 30-year-old credited conversations with Chelsea manager Sonia Bompastor as a key factor.
“Having a conversation with Sonia was one of the most important things, and understanding her vision for the club and what she wanted in her team,” she said.
“A lot of the conversation we both related to what we want as well as going forward with success. For me, it was a no-brainer to jump on board with that.”
Katie also admitted she feels ready for a fresh challenge at this stage of her career.
“I’m at a point in my career now where I’m ready to go into a different chapter.”
