Irish entrepreneur and Formula 1 legend Eddie Jordan has sadly passed away.

His family confirmed that he sadly passed away at the age of 76.

The Dubliner founded Jordan Grand Prix, a Formula 1 team that raced from 1991 to 2005. Throughout their time on the grid they picked up four F1 victories.

His family released a statement that read: “It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Eddie Jordan OBE, the ex-Formula 1 team owner, TV pundit and entrepreneur.

“He passed away peacefully with family by his side in Cape Town in the early hours of 20 March 2025.”

The Dub confirmed that he had been diagnosed with an “aggressive” form of cancer in 2024.

In February he shared an update on his health on the Formula for Success podcast: “I am in the middle of a chemo cycle at the moment. It happened to be on today when we’re doing this recording in good shape.

“I must say, look guys and girls, don’t be afraid. Go and get tested. I will just leave it at that. I don’t want to be a gramophone record going round and round. The reality is that there’s a great chance of survival. There’s an unbelievable opportunity of good medical care everywhere in the world now.

“Chemotherapy, they seem to have their act together. Cape Town has been brilliant. I’ve had four chemo so far.”

Eddie Jordan was an icon of the pitlane and was met with beautiful tributes after the news of his death was confirmed.

F1 President and CEO Stefano Domenicali said: “We are deeply saddened to hear about the sudden loss of Eddie Jordan.

“With his inexhaustible energy he always knew how to make people smile, remaining genuine and brilliant at all times. Eddie has been a protagonist of an era of F1 and he will be deeply missed.

“In this moment of sorrow, my thoughts and those of the entire Formula 1 family are with his family and loved ones.”

Rest in Peace, Eddie.
