Irish celebs prove face masks are the must-have accessory of this season

Face masks are the new must have accessory for everyone these days.  With the country opening back up this month it’s important to wear one to protect yourself and others, while shopping, commuting and just going about daily life.

A whole host of Irish celebs have been encouraging their followers to get on board, sharing snaps and advice on social media.

James Kavanagh

King of making anything fashionable, James Kavanagh has been sporting some fabulous face masks since lockdown began.

Proving that masks don’t have to be boring he showed off a pink and pearl one from Lovelauriex while sipping tea in a cafe.  He also made a statement in this Barbie bucket hat and mask co-ord  from Mauriszmalon earlier on in quarantine.

Roz Purcell

Roz made a statement with a makeup look to match her mask while giving followers all the reasons they should be wearing one.

“You don’t need to worry about food in your teeth, you can avoid people by ‘not recognising’ them with a mask, you’re 20% more mysterious, you literally only have to put a scratch of make up on from the nose up,” she joked.

Roz added, “And the most important, to be sound and help source control. Cloth face coverings are a simple barrier to help prevent respiratory droplets from traveling into the air and onto other people when the person wearing the cloth face covering coughs, sneezes, talks, or raises their voice.”

Doireann Garrihy and Pippa O’Connor Ormond

Both Doireann and Pippa have been wearing their masks – and even have some tips for women who are getting their hair done.

Instead of wearing your gorgeous cloth one while getting your roots coloured, bring a disposable so you don’t ruin the lovely fabric or design.

Amy Huberman

Knowing the importance of these masks, Amy Huberman has revealed she’s going to keep a few extras around, in case she leaves the house without her trusty mask one day.

Posing in her Helen Steele creation, she said she’ll be “keeping a spare one in my bag, in the car, stuffed in a pocket for when I’m out and about in shops etc.” She urged her followers to “wear our masks to help not just ourselves but to help others, and to reduce the impact of the virus we are still very much living with, and to hopefully reduce the scale of a second wave.”

Both Vogue and Aoibhinn were sporting masks from Irish designer Nicole B Coleman, while Rosie got hers from Irish Linen House.
