Irish celebrities honour David Bowie

This morning, the world woke to the terrible and shocking news that music legend, David Bowie, passed away at the age of 69, after an 18 month battle with cancer. A statement released on the star’s Facebook page confirmed the news, announcing: “David Bowie died peacefully today surrounded by his family after a courageous 18 month battle with cancer. While many of you will share in this loss, we ask that you respect the family’s privacy during their time of grief.” His son, Duncan Jones, also took to his Twitter page to confirm the news, tweeting: “Very sorry and sad to say it’s true. I’ll be offline for a while. Love to all.”

Bowie’s inimitable career spanned over four decades, with the star playing numerous shows here in Ireland, including secret gigs at The Baggot Inn, in 1991, and The Factory in Ringsend, in 1997.

Upon hearing the news, Irish celebrities took to their Twitter pages to honour the Starman.
