After making her theatrical debut last year, Imelda May is once again getting ready to reprise her role as Kathleen in a production of Mother of All the Behans.
Based on the book by Brian Behan, the play has been adapted and directed for the stage by Peter Sheridan and traces the story of his ‘inspirational’ mother Kathleen.
The first run of the play took play in Dublin’s 3Olympia but this time Imelda will be bringing the story of Kathleen Behan to Cork.
Taking to Instagram to share the news, Imelda said: “I’m delighted to reprise my role of Brendan Behans extraordinary mother Kathleen in Peter Sheridans incredible one-woman play Mother Of All the Behans.

“I cannot wait to bring this play to you all in Cork City.
“Trust me, you’ll love Kathleen as much as I do (even though we’re both Dubs,” she added.”
Previously speaking about the production, Imelda said: “The life of Kathleen Behan, Brendan’s Mammy, is so enthralling I just had to do it.
“And the opportunity to work with the amazing Peter Sheridan in this new production is such a wonderful way to tell her story.
“I feel passionately about this play, this story, this period of our history and culture and most importantly this woman,” she shared.
“I feel Kathleen’s spirit in me and I feel like I’m supposed to tell her story.”
The show is set to run from 30th July – 10th August in the Everyman theatre.
