Deirdre O’Kane is the host of this year’s IFTA ceremony, and she has insisted that there will be no major errors made, such as the Oscars envelope blunder.
The awards will take place at Dublin’s Mansion House on Saturday April 8th, and Deirdre is prepared for anything that could happen on the night.
Although there were technical difficulties at the 2014 IFTAs, the comedian has also stated that she would have no problem telling loud guests to be quiet, in order to avoid sound issues.
Speaking to the Irish Sun she said, “What happened then had nothing to do with the hosts or guests. Of course, if you can’t hear the show, you start talking to the person beside you.
“If you want see technical problems, look at the envelope fiasco at the Oscars. Then the teleprompter going down at the Golden Globes. The Superbowl had a massive technical problem too. So it’s not an Irish problem.
“A comedian can make off-the-cuff remarks if things go wrong. I wouldn’t be scared, I know all the people in the room.”
The Gogglebox host is currently gearing up to perform at Paddy’s Night in Support of Comic Relief, which will take place in Dublin’s 3 Arena on St. Patrick’s Day.
Deirdre is responsible for organising the charity gig, which will see comedians Al Porter, Tommy Tiernan and Des Bishop take to the stage. Tickets are still available and range between €39 and €45.
