Keith Walsh has shared his thoughts on what the secret is to a long lasting relationship.

The Breakfast Republic presenter and his wife Suzanne have been together since they were just sixteen!

Now, almost thirty years later, the couple are still going strong, and have two children together.

Speaking exclusively to VIP Magazine, Keith opened up about his successful relationship.

When asked about their secret to a healthy relationship, Keith offered some practical advice.

“Every couple and every relationship has good and bad periods. We have the kind of relationship that we allow the other the space to do what they need to do, while being there for each other.

“You don’t meet at the age of 16 and be that person for the rest of your life, you have to grow and be allowed to grow. When the kids come along, there were difficult periods. We have our rows and do get frustrated, but we know at this stage, that sometimes it’s just a bad day and you just need to get through it.”

The radio DJ also admitted that they have learned a lot over time, specially when it comes to fights.

“In the earlier days we thought it had to be someone’s fault and that somebody had to be right, but you realise there doesn’t need to be someone to blame. You have to agree to disagree and move on. You need to let the person have space to deal with what they are dealing with, but let them know you are there if they need you.”

The 43-year-old went on to explain that friendship is the key to their happiness.

“If you’re a good friend, that will overcome anything. If I had the choice to go out with anyone for a night out, it would be Suzanne over anybody. I never take that for granted.”
