Missy Keating is determined not to live in her dad Ronan’s shadows as she sets her sights on a music career.

The teen is part of a group with her best friend Georgia Gaffney, called GGMK.

Though Missy wants to be successful in her own right, her dad’s support means the world to her.

“Having dad come in to see us play was great but it made me the most nervous I have ever been,” she told The Sun.

“I came off stage dying to know what he made of it. It turned out that he loved it.

“He says we remind him of the band First Aid Kit which is a great comparison.”

The singer was destined to follow in her dad’s Boyzone footsteps after learning about music from a young age.

“Dad taught me the guitar.

“He wanted one of his kids to follow him into the music business and I’m glad it’s me and I have such a supportive dad.”

She added that she won’t be namedropping to get ahead in the music world.

“I want to get there on my own so I prefer not to mention my family name when we’re doing gigs. I don’t want my dad to be the reason we get gigs.”

The duo sing mostly covers but are working on their own material too.

“Georgia plays piano. I play guitar. But when we sing together something special happens, it’s enough to make me want to focus on music right now.”

Georgia added: “We’re compiling songs onto demos, if anyone gets interested we will have something to play them.”

“We like Picture This so much, we even do a few songs of theirs our set. We also like Charlie Puth, James Bay, and Madison Beer as well.”
