RTÉ2 will be the home of Tokyo 2020 on TV this year, with RTÉ player also showing content from the games, as well as  RTÉ radio stations, RTÉ.ie/sport and the RTÉ News app.

Up to date coverage will also be available to watch or read on RTÉ online and the RTÉ news.

Due to the time difference between Ireland and Japan, some of the games will be shown late into the night, taking place at 1am Irish time, and 10am in Tokyo.

The first Irish athlete that competed for Ireland was Samita Puspure. She competed in women’s rowing which was shown on RTÉ2 on Friday morning between 1.30am to 3am.

Every day, RTÉ2 will also broadcast an overlook at the games that day, taking to TV each evening at 7pm for those who couldn’t stay up to watch the action live.

The schedule for the rest of the Irish athletes competing in the Olympics can be found here, with some of the times working out as perfect lunchtime viewing next week – hurrah.

From swimming to gymnastics, equestrian to sailing, this could be Ireland’s most promising year in the Olympics and we’ll certainly be cheering on from home.

Come on team Ireland!
