“Homeless children will feature… it’s important” Ryan Tubridy on Toy Show

"There are over three thousand children homeless, I find that preposterous"

Ryan Tubridy has revealed what’s in store for this year’s Late Late Toy Show.

The festive show airs tonight, and will feature a nautical Little Mermaid inspired theme.

Speaking about the kids involved the host said there are plenty of very talented people involved.

“A few of the acts… we had man tears. Two acts moved me very much.”

He also explained that homeless children will be taking part in the show, and added that it was important to include those in need.

“We have a responsibility to highlight elements of childhood. For example we have homeless children on the show.

“There are over three thousand children homeless, I find that preposterous and really not acceptable in 2017.

“We’re really aware of it, and so homeless children will feature on the Toy Show and we won’t be saying ‘this child is and this child isn’t’ but it’s more to the point that it’s important to get the word out,” he told VIP and other press.

Tubridy explained that although it is a fun night, it is a platform where important issues can be highlighted.

“Yes it’s fun yes there are toys and yes childhood is magic, but it shouldn’t be the case that a child is watching the toy show in a hotel room with three other family members and has to get up the next morning and walk past a bunch of guys who are still drinking from the night before. That’s not good.

“We have a responsibility to talk about that and it will be on our mind for the show.”

The show airs on RTE One, Friday, December 1st at 9.35pm.
