Actress Helen Mirren is opening up about her former relationship with action star Liam Neeson, confessing there is no bad blood between the pair.
Helen and the Northern Irish star began seeing each other in 1980, calling it quits five years later, in 1985.
The couple even lived together for four years, but alas it wasn’t meant to be. Speaking about their breakup with AARP The Magazine, Helen shared why their relationship ended.
“We were not meant to be together in that way, but we loved each other very, very much,” she confessed.
The iconic British actress also revealed how much she still cares for him.
Saying: “I love him deeply to this day. He’s such an amazing guy.”
Liam has also spoken fondly of their romance in the past. Gushing about the first time they met, while working on the 1981 King Arthur fantasy film Excalibur.
He told CBS: ““Can you imagine riding horses in shiny suits of armor, having sword fights and stuff, and you’re falling in love with Helen Mirren?”
“It doesn’t get any better than that.”
