GAA legend Marty Morrissey has paid tribute to comedian Brendan Grace following his passing this month.

The funnyman was laid to rest on Monday surrounded by thousands of family members, friends and fans.

Speaking of his love for Brendan, Marty said: “He was not just a superb performer, he was a gentleman. He sent letters to people and he was warm.”

“I loved him. I mean I loved him even before I got to know him and then I really got to know him and I loved him.”

He also revealed that Brendan sent him words of encouragement when he was on DWTS.

“Ah, ah he was just great. He was so positive and he wrote me letters during Dancing With The Stars saying ‘Gowan ya boyo!”

We spoke to Marty at the launch of the Upcoming Kerrygold Irish Oaks race meeting where Marty was announced as a style judge at the Kerrygold Irish Oaks taking place at The Curragh Racecourse.

The Legendary broadcaster will form part of the judging panel which also includes broadcaster Sybil Mulcahy and fashion stylist Ciara O’Doherty for Kerrygold’s Fashions on the Field competition taking place this Saturday.

On this stylish event Marty says, “I’m delighted to team up with an iconic brand like Kerrygold for the Fashions on the Field most stylish competition. Obviously, I have a passion for sport, but I also love style and delighted that men can enter this year – so lads get suited and booted this weekend and head to the Curragh to be in with a chance to win.”

When we asked him for style advice for any hopefuls this weekend, he said “I think it needs to be cool. It needs to classy and whatever makes you feel comfortable and that you feel good in and that of course we will admire.”
