Irish radio presenter George Hook is set to retire next month, it has been announced.
The controversial broadcaster is set to finish up in December after 16 years with Newstalk.
“George has been with Newstalk since we launched in 2002 and in the intervening 16 years has made a great contribution to the station.
“I would like to take this opportunity to thank him and wish him well in his retirement,” Patricia Monahan, Managing Editor of Newstalk said.
The 77-year-old presenter The Right Hook, High Noon and more recently Hook’s Saturday Sit-In during his time at Newstalk.
Hook was moved to the weekend slot after he was suspended for making controversial comments about rape.
The presenter has not yet commented on the news of his retirement.
