George Hook has been moved to a weekend slot on Newstalk following a suspension.
The radio host was given the suspension after he made controversial comments about rape.
This was followed by a backlash from the public and even Newstalk staff members for him to be fired.
Earlier in the month the radio station announced that it would investigate the comments and that George would be taken off air during this time.
The station announced today that he would be ‘stepping down’ from his current weekday slot and will instead present a weekend show.
The statement said: “Newstalk has now concluded the process which reviewed the circumstances that led to George Hook’s comments on rape recently. The station confirms that George Hook will be stepping down from his lunchtime slot.
“He will return to the station in December 2017 when he will take on a new weekend show. Newstalk will shortly be announcing a replacement for the lunchtime show.
It concluded: “Newstalk will not be making any further comment on this issue.”
