RTE broadcaster Louise McSharry has opened up about how her hubby does not share her love of the spotlight – but he enjoys slagging her off about her being in the public eye!

In an exclusive chat to VIP at the RTE2 new season launch, the radio host admitted: “My husband understands my ethos. He never has a problem with me being open and honest, except when he gets dragged into it. It’s nice as he’s not some one who wants to be in the papers or on TV. He slags me non- stop for all of the media attention, it’s hilarious.”

McSharry and her hubby Gordon Sperrin tied the knot in Cork this summer, almost a year to the day that she was diagnosed with Hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Speaking about her look for her big day, Louise revealed to VIP that she opted to do her makeup for her special day as she “is a control freak”.

“I’ve had my make up done before and haven’t been happy with it. I like to be in control so I decided it would be better to take the reigns and do it myself,” she revealed.

McSharry is excited to be back to her radio hot seat and is positive about her future. She said: “It feels like I was never gone. Nothing changes. Although while I was away I did keep my distance. If I thought about things too much it would drive me crazy”

“I was doing what the doctors told me. I had faith in the medicine. I believed I would be fine.”

Her new RTE documentary, F**k Cancer, follows Louise as she prepares to marry her fiancée Gordon while battling cancer, which she has since been given the all clear from. She revealed radio will always be her number one but she enjoyed making the new warts and all tv show. “I wouldn’t say no to more television work, especially making documentaries that are interesting”

And even though Gordon doesn’t like the spotlight, the supportive spouse does feature in the personal documentary that airs this Thursday on RTE 2. We’ll be sure to be tuned in!
