Former Rose of Tralee Maria Walsh has been busy over the last year trying out different career moves, however, she’s now gearing up to start her own wedding planning service, specialising in gay weddings.
Since the marriage equality referendum passed last year Maria has been working on this venture which is due to kick off later in the summer.
Maria has a background in event management and will be working on the project with her neighbour, Avril Reilly.
Speaking to Evoke.ie. Maria has said she will plan any type of wedding, from extravagant to intimate.
“We’ll do any kind of wedding. My thing about it is to bring in high end labels and photographers here to shoot.
We’ll do restaurants in the city or manor houses… we want to be different but it’s all about the couple who determine it,” she said.
Maria also spoke about the year that’s gone by since the passing of the marriage equality bill, saying that although it’s been positive there is a lot more work to be done.
“I can’t believe it’s been a year. I still feel like we’re still new to it, even if its 365 days later.
“We’ve still a lot more to come and it seems like we’re just in the awareness phase.”
We wish her the best with this new venture!
