Eoghan McDermott has spoken out in defence of Vogue Williams, after she received death threats for her controversial comments following the London attacks.
Vogue was widely criticised for suggesting that internment camps be used for all potential terror suspects, but she later apologised for the statement.
RTE star, Eoghan, has now come to her defence and says he gives her “props” for retracting the statement.
“Last week I said Vogue Williams would do well not to ignore the whirlwind that followed her internment article,” Eoghan wrote in his column in The Irish Sun.
“Two days later she did indeed respond, saying that she had written the piece in the immediate aftermath of the attacks, was emotional, frightened and acknowledged in hindsight that holding prisoners without trial would be a fruitless and, indeed, destructive endeavour.
“People are allowed to change their minds, get more informed and reflect, so props to Vogue for doing that.”
