After two long years of very little live music, gigs and festivals, the music industry is finally back! Over the last few weeks we’ve seen lots of out favourite events announcing they’re coming back for summer 2022, and now we know that Electric Picnic is 100% going ahead.

Today festival organisers confirmed they would be back this year, but they said nothing about the line-up so far, only that we will find out exactly who’s playing next Thursday, 10th of March when they release the acts we can expect to see over the weekend.

However, they did reveal when the tickets are going on sale, so take note! Tickets will be on sale the day after the line-up is announced, on the 11th of March at 11am so be ready!

The music festival, which takes place in Stradbally, Co Laois every year, has been unable to take place since 2019, and as a major event in the festival calendar each year fans are delighted to see it return.

Last year organisers tried to get the event to take place but had their licence refused by the local council and the decision, which has been seen by many as controversial, was down to safety concerns.

Laois county council said it was because of “the most up-to-date public health advice made available to the council by the HSE. Furthermore it is noted that under current Government measures for the management of Covid-19 events of this nature are restricted of 500 people only.”

Thankfully, with the removal of most restrictions it means this year’s festival will be able to go ahead and we’ll be keeping you up to date on all the latest news, including the line-up!
