Miss Ireland 2017 Finals

Elaine Crowley has opened up about life after weight loss show Celebrity Operation Transformation.

Now, one year on, the TV star admitted it was hard to watch.

“I watched a little bit of it and I just got the fear of God, I just got flashbacks of last year’s show and I just wasn’t able to watch it. It’s a really tough thing for anyone to do. Mentally, it’s a lot tougher than I thought it was going to be.”

The Elaine host admitted that people became interested in her diet after the show.

“I had people coming up to me in restaurants asking me why I was eating a certain thing. That level of intrusion I found a little strange,” she told the Herald.

“I really have to take my hat off to anyone, celebs or otherwise, who puts themselves forward for it. They’re so brave for doing it in the first place so no one should be giving them any stick. It’s very hard to stand up there in Lycra and bare your soul to the nation.”

The 40-year-old lost 1st 8lbs on last years show, and admits it can be difficult to maintain.

“The real work kicks in afterwards, Everyone loses weight for a month. It’s easy to keep on it with a camera following you around, but afterwards it’s going to get a bit difficult. Maybe it’s different for everyone but I think you really have to want to do it for yourself.”

She went on to explain the difference between the original and celebrity version of the show.

“I think that’s why the celebrity one is different because people are approached for the celebrity version. So I suppose if you really want it and you’re lucky enough to be picked, you are going to try really hard. But unless you want to do it for yourself deep down and do it for your own state of mind, nothing’s really going to work for you.”
