The Romanian Challenge Appeal works to build houses for disabled children, and Daniel’s efforts have not gone unnoticed.

There was more great news for Daniel and wife Majella earlier this year, as they announced the birth of their first grandson back in January.

Gushing over the tiny tot, Daniel revealed his joy in having the youngster named after him.

“The New Year started off great for us with the arrival of our first grandson, Archie Daniel Thomas Shields who was born on the 17th Jan,” he said.

“Everyone in the family is just thrilled. A new brother for Olivia, and Siobhion and Archie are doing really well.”

Huge congratulations to Daniel on this great honour.
