Damian McGinty was awarded three nines on Sunday night after an emotional dance that he dedicated to his late Glee co-stars.
He previously admitted that he felt like he was there for a good time not a long time, but now he has been named as one of the frontrunners in the series.
However, he may not be very happy with that title.
The singer told VIP Magazine that he is “very uncomfortable” to be put into that group.
“I know it’s the Irish mentality to play yourself down or say that you’re terrible at this or that, “ he tells us.
“But genuinely, what I think would give people a lot of context is if they saw a video of my rehearsal on Monday morning they would say ‘How in God’s name is he doing what he’s doing?’.
“The journey to Monday to Sunday is like a Pokémon evolving. It’s absolutely ridiculous. This Monday morning just passed after getting three nines and people saying he’s a frontrunner, it really has crashed down to earth. I physically can’t do a swivel.“
He jokes that he definitely isn’t very competent at the beginning of the week.
“I think if people could see that they would probably change their opinions or be just as I am. This is the craziest process I’ve ever been through. I’m really proud of what I’ve done so far. It’s purely down to hard work.“
Well, we’re sure that he will absolutely smash it once again this week. We can’t wait to watch.
Dancing with the Stars continues on RTÉ One on Sunday at 6:30pm
