Conor McGregor got everyone talking last night, as he took to the stage for his UFC 205 pre-fight press conference wearing a white mink coat coat and red polo neck – but it turns out he was sporting the audacious attire was for a very poignant reason.
The Notorious is renowned for his controversial press conference appearances, but his behavior yesterday was more shocking than ever. After arriving 30 minutes late, he sauntered in wearing one of his boldest outfits yet, and ended up having to be separated from his opponent Eddie Alvarez, after he threatened to throw a chair at him.
Although his behavior at the conference can not be excused, Conor may have a worthwhile reason for sporting such a daring, controversial outfit.
It seems that the Crumlin native may have been paying tribute to boxing legend Joe Frazier, who wore a near identical outfit before he fought boxing champ Muhammad Ali in Madison Square Gardens, New York in 1974.
Fans were quick to take to Twitter to draw a comparison between Conor and Joe.
