The UFC have confirmed that Conor McGregor has been stripped of his featherweight title, ending his time as the first fighter hold two UFC belts simultaneously.
The shocking news was announced live by commentator Jon Anik during the main card broadcast at UFC Melbourne yesterday night as they explained the reshuffle of the December 10 fight card.
The Dubliner won the featherweight title when he knocked out Jose Aldo at UFC 194 in December 2015, but he has never defended the title.
This move means Jose Also has now reclaimed the title, which undoubtedly won’t sit well with Conor.
In the past Conor has said that “It’s gonna take a f*****g army” to take one of his belts from him, but now Conor finds himself holder of just the lightweight title that he won earlier this month.
Although Conor is yet to comment on the UFC’s bold move, we’ve no doubt he’ll have a lot to say when he speaks out publicly!
