While he may splurge on luxurious items for himself and his family every now and again, UFC star Conor McGregor has decided to put some of his incredible earnings to great use by donating €50,000 to charity.
The fighter wants to help with Ireland’s homeless crisis, and is using money from upcoming events and appearances to try combat the issue.
He took to social media to share his plans: “I am donating €50,000 from these events to help boost resources of those who are fighting the homeless crisis in Ireland as we head into the colder weather.
“€25,000 will go to the hard working Simon Community homeless charity. This will fund the mobile health clinic for a full year so the people can get the treatment they need, when they need it.
“The other €25,000 I will donate to Focus Ireland which will go towards the Family Services Division which helps families in crisis move on from homelessness.”
Conor and his team have arranged for a number of meet and greet type events, and any money made from these will do directly towards the two charities.
“We have put together a four-day event across the country. Meet fans, have some fun, celebrate life and also help build money to put towards this major crisis we have in our country,” he said.
Conor was in Waterford last night, he’ll be in The Savoy in Cork today and at The Wright Venue in Dublin on Monday and Tuesday.
