Colin Farrell’s father Eamon, has passed away after a lengthy illness.
The former Shamrock Rovers player sadly died on Wednesday, April 9th.
It was confirmed that he had passed away in Beaumount Hospital after “a long illness bravely borne”.
Both Eamon and his brother Tommy, played for Shamrock Rovers during the 1960s.

They were highly celebrated sports stars as Eamon was part of Rovers’ 1962 FAI Cup winning team and Tommy won the League and Cup double in 1964.
Eamonn was in his 80s when he sadly passed away.
He has been described in his death notice as having been the “beloved” husband of Eileen, the “loving father” of his children Eamon, Catherine, Claudine, and Colin and the “beloved brother” of the late Tommy, Maureen, and Sean.
Shamrock Rovers paid tribute to Eamon with an Instagram post of him wearing the kit at the time.

“Eamon joined Rovers in 1960 at 18 years of age from the famous schoolboy nursery club Home Farm,” they wrote.
“A half back who was a minor and schoolboy Ireland international, Eamonn played alongside his older brother Tommy during his time at Milltown.
“Both were on the team that beat Shelbourne in the FAI Cup final in 1962 played in front of an attendance of 32,000. Ar dheis Dé go raibh a anam.”
Colin has a close relationship with his parents and earlier this year when he picked up his Screen Actors Guild Award for the titular role in The Penguin, he praised Eamon and Rita.
“My mom, Rita, my dad, Eamon, and the two people in my life who have made my life so much more special and so much more meaningful, so much more joyful than I ever truly thought possible – my son James and my son, Henry,” he said.
