Ciara Doherty has opened up about life as a new mum, revealing these last few months have been the best of her life.

The Ireland AM star welcomed her first child to the world this February with husband Richard Stern, and the couple couldn’t be happier with how things are going.

Speaking about life with their little girl, Ciara told VIP Magazine, “Aw, it’s amazing. It’s incredible, it really is.

“It’s been the best six months ever. I have loved it. I love being a mum. It’s even better than I expected. She’s so precious.”

She went on to say, “I’m trying as hard as I can to stay within the baby bubble because it’s short-lived.

“It’s a really lovely place to be. You’re almost cocooned from the real world; it’s just you and this brand new little thing that you adore and that your partner is equally as mad about.

“It’s such a happy place, and I know it can’t last so I’m trying to stay in that little bubble, but I know it’ll burst soon.”

Ciara, who briefly appeared back on Ireland AM last month to say goodbye to long-term co-star Mark Cagney, will be making her official return to the show in September.

The presenter admits she’ll miss the little one dearly, but feels the adjustment will be made easier, by the fact she enjoys her job so much.

“I’m lucky that I love the job I do, otherwise I think it’d be even more difficult to come back,” Ciara told us.

“I have a whole new sympathy for mothers, especially those who are going back to a job they perhaps don’t value or enjoy.

“In an ideal world, I’d want to be around her 24/7, but practically, that can’t happen.

“ And it’s probably a good thing because I know she needs to socialise outside our four walls, and she needs to see that her mum works for a living because chances are, she’s going to work for a living too.

“I hope there are more benefits than downsides.”

We can’t wait to see Ciara back on our screens next month, and wish her continued joy with their little baby girl.
