This week the Dignam family confirmed that Christy Dignam had returned home after a six-month stay in hospital and was receiving palliative care at home.
His band Aslan then shared their own statement saying that they were keeping Christy as their priority before confirming that all their shows had been cancelled.
Now Christy has shared his own message with his fans.
His daughter Keira took to social media to relay his words: “My Dad just asked me to thank everyone for their support, well wishes and kind words over the last couple of days.
“It has been and will be tough but it’s really given him a boost so thank you all!”
The 62-year-old was diagnosed with amyloidosis, a rare blood disorder cancer, in 2013 and in recent months has been in and out of hospital as his health declined.
On Monday his family released a statement that read: “In July 2022, Christy was admitted to Beaumont Hospital and spent the next six months in the care of the Haematology and Cardiac Care team.
“Since December, Christy has been at home and is being cared for lovingly by family, with the support of a palliative care team.
“The Dignam family thanks everyone for keeping Christy in their thoughts and prayers and asks for privacy at this time.”
