A British tv presenter has apologised to Eamonn Holmes after insulting his heritage live on air.

Alice Beer was presenting a segment on This Morning about correct food storage in a fridge when the insulting comments occurred.

Eamonn started questioning her about storage of potatoes when she made insensitive comments about the Irish famine.

The Irish presenter said “I’m from Ireland. You don’t put potatoes in the fridge.”

She responded saying, “You want to preserve the life of your potatoes. You Irish should know that. There was a bit of a shortage once upon a time. ”

After the comments were made the cameras showed an unimpressed Eamonn, but the seasoned presenter went on to finish the show with out dwelling on the comments.

Alice later took to Twitter laster to apologise for her insensitivity.

She said, “I apologise for the insensitivity of my comment which of course was never intended to offend. It was stupid.”
