Brendan Courtney has said that he won’t be taking over Ryan Tubridy’s radio slot on Radio 1.
Despite the fact that he has been hosting the show for 20 weeks, it looks like he won’t be the person who takes it full-time.
He has been one of the many presenters who have stepped in to present the morning slot since Ryan Tubridy left the station.
The likes of Oliver Callan and Maura Derrane have both also presented the show over the months.
“I was told I was in the running but, given the late date, it’s clearly not me,” Brendan told the Irish Sun.
“I unwittingly ended up applying for a job I never applied for — and it looks like I didn’t get it.”
Before Christmas, RTÉ Director General Kevin Bakhurst confirmed that they “have chosen the new presenter of the 9am slot on RTÉ Radio 1”.
However, the person has yet to be confirmed.
Shay Byrne will be covering the slot until the end of January.
Ryan Tubridy has been hosting his new show on Virgin Radio over in the UK since the 2nd of January.
Things seem to be going swimmingly for the former Late Late host.
