Bono has been named on Glamour’s Woman of the Year list

Bono has been named on Glamour Magazine’s Women of the Year list. For the first time the magazine have added a Man of the Year category to their awards, which honour inspiring and extraordinary women.

Glamour are recognising the U2 frontman for his work in fighting for the rights of young women living in poverty. Others being honoured this year are are model and activist Ashley Graham, ISIS kidnap survivor Nadia Murad and IMF chief Christine Lagarde.

Speaking of the award Bono thanked the magazine saying that he was extremely grateful. He said, “I’m sure I don’t deserve it. But I’m grateful for this award as a chance to say the battle for gender equality can’t be won unless men lead it along with women. We’re largely responsible for the problem, so we have to be involved in the solutions.”

The award ceremony is set to take place on November 14th in Los Angeles.
