Bernard Brogan has opened up about becoming a father to twin boys.

The Dublin footballer welcomed the babies with his with Keira Doyle earlier this month. The star said that he was delighted that everything went well and that there’s plenty of work involved in having two newborns.

“I’m well used to nappies now in the recent couple weeks so I know all about it!” he told Eoghan McDermott on 2fm.

The new dad revealed that he is excited about the new chapter in his life.

“We have twin boys and I’m absolutely delighted. All we wanted was healthy babies and we have two bouncing baby boys and they’re flying.

“It’s their two week birthday today and there’s something different every day it’s amazing, and you find the personalities of the lads so it’s going to be an interesting journey so I’m looking forward to the new few months and years.”

The happy couple gave their children unique Irish names, and Bernard reveals the ideas came from an app quite like the popular dating one!

“There is a really cool app called Babyname, it’s like Tinder for baby names!” he said.

“I swear to god I’ve been telling all my friends about it. So my wife Keira and I both get the app and we go through all the names and you just swipe right for the one you like and left for the ones you don’t like, and when you both like the same name you get a notification saying you’ve matched, like Tinder.

“It’s great so we had about eight names that we both liked so that was our list we had girls and boys so when we found out it was boys we had about six or eight names and then we went in and said we’d hold off until we got to know their personalities and what they look like. So it took us about two and a half days to pick the names.”

The star also revealed the meaning behind the lesser known name Keadán and why they changed the spelling.

“So Keadán and Donagh are their names. Two good Irish names. Keadán is K because Keira is with a K so we tweaked it a bit. There is no K in the Irish language so we were being creative. It means little fighter and he’s the smaller of the two so he fought all his way. We were delighted with healthy babies.”

The busy new dad has a football career and a new fashion line at the moment but still also has his sights set on a media career in the future.

“Maybe something sport related, maybe some travel stuff like Tommy Bowe. I have been asked about Dancing with the Stars but you can’t do that when you’re playing. It’s a tough gig, obviously I know Aidan O’Mahony and Anna Geary and Marty. It’s a tough tough gig.”
