There must be something in the water down at Irish rugby HQ, as yet another star has popped the question to his girlfriend! No sooner had Jamie Heaslip walked up the aisle with Sheena O’Buachalla last weekend, than his team mate Iain Henderson revealed that he had popped the question to his long-term girlfriend, Suzanne Flanagan, on holidays last month.
Revealing how he had the proposal planned for a sunshine break in Miami, Iain said that “We left for Miami on June 28 and we’d been enjoying ourselves and visiting a few theme parks in Florida before I asked her … It had been on the cards. The ring had already been purchased beforehand and I had the proposal semi-planned out.” He revealed that Suzanne instantly said yes, and that she obviously had an idea it was coming! “I think she knew that I was going to ask her at some point, but she didn’t know when it would be or how I would do it,” Iain told the Belfast Telegraph newspaper.
Iain and Suzanne first began dating as teenagers – he was 17 and she was 18 – and though they split up when she went to university in Glasgow, they got back together 18 months ago, and have been inseparable ever since.
The couple plan to wed some time next year, and everyone in VIP Towers wishes them a happy life together!
