We're delighted for them.

One Direction released their fifth studio album, Made in the AM, last night and over the past few hours it has soared to number one in the Irish iTunes chart!

The album is the first one they have released since Zayn Malik left the band earlier this year, and is the final piece of music we’ll hear from the foursome before they embark on their ‘hiatus’.

The album features ballads, country-pop notions and barbershop vocals, with our very own Niall Horan co-writing a number of the tracks.

As well as writing music for this album, Niall is set to create some tunes with other artists during his break from 1D.

Ellie Goulding announced today that she’s planning to nab Niall to work on a couple of new tracks, as the two are quite close professionally.

Speaking to The Sun, Ellie said, “I’m going to write with him. He’s a really good guitarist and he’s funny, cheeky, really cool. He’s been my friend for quite a few years so I’m really up for it.”

One Direction also release twitter competition

Despite embarking on their break, and having a string of side projects up their sleeves, the band are set to perform together on Children in Need tonight, as well as this week’s X Factor results show on Sunday – we can’t wait!

To top off all the excitement for the group and to celebrate this fun time, One Direction have also launched their own set of emojis – but for a VERY limited time.

Fans in 140 countries will have the opportunity to send tweets using the emojis until Saturday, and the country which sends the most tweets, will be in with a chance of keeping the emoji – let’s get behind #1DNIALL!
