Aidan O’Mahony has revealed he’s very excited to settle back into normality following his stint on Dancing with the Stars.
The former GAA, who works as a garda, was crowned the winner of the dancing competition on Sunday evening, after a gruelling 12 weeks on the show.
The Kerry native became a first time father almost three weeks ago, as wife Denise gave birth to their daughter Lucia, and Aidan can’t wait to get home to his family.
Speaking exclusively to VIP Magazine, he said, “I’m off this week on parental leave, so I’m going to spend some time with my wife and the baby.
“I’ve been at home for four days and then gone the other three days for the past few weeks, so I’m going to be home full time now.”
Aidan continued, “The last few weeks have been amazing – it’s like life behind the lens, and I loved it, don’t get me wrong, but I need a bit of time.
“I’m not a celebrity, I’m a retired GAA player and a guard. I’m going home now to Kerry to be a dad. I’m just looking forward to that – a bit of down time, and getting snuggles off the baby too!”
Meanwhile, Dayl Cronin has revealed that the pair will certainly stay in touch with each other, as they became great friends over the 12 weeks on the show.
He shared his well-wishes with the GAA star following his win on Sunday evening, admitting he’s absolutely thrilled that his pal went home with the trophy.
“Couldn’t be happier for this man. You fully deserved it,” he wrote on social media. “You worked so hard to get there and I couldn’t be prouder of you!”
The Hometown star added, “It’s been an amazing few months living with you, you’ve been a great role model to me!
“I wish you all the best in the future with your new beautiful baby girl! No doubt il be coming down to the kingdom sometime very soon. Hon the kid!
