Aidan Gillen is set to star alongside Anjli Mohindra and Shaun Parkes in ITV’s new six-part drama Saviour, described by the broadcaster as a “propulsive legal thriller”.

The series centres on Ben, played by Archie Fisher (Death by Lightning, Steve, Boarders), who finds himself accused of murder after borrowing his father’s police uniform for a costume party, an act that spirals into a fatal altercation.

The Irish actor plays Eddie, a police officer and devoted father who becomes “ruthlessly intent on clearing his son’s name” after his life is thrown into turmoil.

Ben is defended by rising criminal defence solicitor Indy Sangar, portrayed by Anjli Mohindra (Fear, Get Millie Black, The Red King).

Recently promoted to Higher Rights of Audience at the Old Bailey, Indy takes on the most challenging case of her career, only to find herself navigating police corruption, racial politics, intense media scrutiny and a justice system resistant to change, all while her client hides crucial secrets.

“But what she doesn’t know is that, whilst fighting tooth and nail for Ben’s freedom, deeply personal secrets of her own are finally coming to the surface and threatening to tear her career and her family apart,” the official synopsis reads.

Opposing her is Detective Inspector Jon Creasy, played by Shaun Parkes (The Suspect, Lost in Space, Mangrove).

Determined to uncover the truth, Creasy refuses to be influenced by Eddie, his colleague and Ben’s father, whose desperation to protect his son pushes him to dangerous extremes.

The actor is well-known for his role in Game of Thrones

“Saviour asks the question – how far are you prepared to go to protect the ones you love?”

The series is written by criminal barrister, novelist and screenwriter Imran Mahmood, with filming currently underway in Liverpool

ITV’s Director of Drama, Polly Hill, praised the casting, saying: “The casting of Anjli, Shaun and Aidan is exceptional. This is going to be a really exciting new drama that I am confident the audience will love.”

While a release date has yet to be confirmed, rest assured, it’s one we’ll be watching closely.
