Aidan Gillen is rumoured to be starring in new BBC drama, The Spy Who Came In From The Cold. The series is based on John Le Carre’s 1963 breakthrough novel, of the same name.
The Spy Who Came In From The Cold is said to be a thriller series, set in the era of The Cold War, and while it’s too early to say who the cast will be, it’s understood that 48-year-old Aidan is being strongly considered.
The Dublin native is reportedly being lined up for the part of Alec Lemass, an administrator who returns back to London, following the death of one of his operators in east Germany.
Aidan is best known for his role as Dublin criminal Johnboy in Love/Hate, and more recently as Petyr Baelish in HBO’s Game of Thrones.
This will be the second of John Le Carre’s books to be adapted into a series by the BBC. The Night Manager, starring Tom Hiddleston, was hugely successful for the tv station, earning it twelve Emmy Award nominations just last week.
We hope this all goes ahead.
