The Great Irish Bake Off is back next week and there’s some big changes in store – the main one being a shake-up of the judging panel!

Author and all-round foodie Lilly Higgins has joined the show as Biddy White Lennon’s replacement and is already settling into life in the Bake Off tent.

Not only was Lilly the latest addition to the tent, but her 16-week old baby, Hazel, was around too- how cute?!

Lilly was delighted to have “the little Bake Off mascot around,” but was happier to get a chance to sample all the sweet treats and chocolatey delights the contestants prepared without any guilt – it’s her job after all!

Speaking to TVNow Magazine, the cookbook author revealed, “It was great being presented with 12 deserts, being told to eat them and then say which one was the best. It’s a bit of a dream job really – it was ideal!”

Lilly’s also making a great impression on her fellow judge Paul Kelly, who thinks she’s a brilliant addition to the team:

“Lilly is great fun and she brought something different to the show. We’re completely different people and in different areas and different stages of our career, but that made for a good dynamic,” he said.

Presenter of the show, Anna Nolan also can’t get enough of the newbie, saying, “She fitted in brilliantly. She’s a really smart baker, is incredibly whitty and astute and knows her cakes inside out!”

The trio have already filmed this series, and sadly we’ll have to wait another eight weeks to see who lifts the trophy, but Lilly has revealed a snippet of what we can expect – “I was really impressed. It’s incredible they all take it so seriously and they’re passionate about baking.”

We can’t wait to see for ourselves how both Lilly and the contestants get on this year, but we’ll have to wait until October 25th to find out!
