We really hope this doesn't happen...

TV3’s The Seven O’Clock Show may be facing the axe from the stations schedule, as a number of big soaps are set to return.

Earlier this week, UTV Ireland was sold to Virgin Media, meaning that ITV soaps Coronation Street and Emmerdale could be aired on TV3 in the future.

This change up may bring some bad news for The Seven O’Clock Show, which is presented by Lucy Kennedy and Martin King.

An insider at the station revealed to the Sun that,”The Seven O’Clock Show was devised specifically to combat the threat of soaps on rivals UTV Ireland.

“With that danger gone, and Corrie and Emmerdale looking likely to air on TV3 again, its obvious Emmerdale and Coronation Street will be going in the Seven O’Clock Show slot.”

This is upsetting!

The source also revealed that both hosts will remain with TV3, and still have much more to give.

“Lucy Kennedy is destined for big things on a range of shows and could end up as Ireland’s answer to Davina McCall.

“While Martin King remains one of the most popular presenters on TV3 who can be called up again when the station is coming under pressure.”

It’s unsure when the soaps – or even if – they will be returning to the Ballymount station, but we sure hope this isn’t the end for The Seven O’Clock Show.
