An old clip of Dermot Bannon’s tv debut has been spotted online.
Long before Room To Improve, Dermot starred on the original Blind Date, which Cilla Black hosted.
The clip from over 23 years ago shows a cheeky Dermot chatting up his potential date.
The tv personality was a student in England at the time and decided to take part for the craic.
He can be seen confidently selling himself as his the perfect date for Jenny.
“Forget the two ugly duckings and go for the swan, number one,” he says.
While Jenny didn’t pick Dermot as her date, the pair did end up kissing that night.
He told the Ray D’Arcy show back in 2015, “We had a bit of a thing that night. I was 21, she was 18 or whatever, it was a long time ago.”
Our very own Irish version of the classic dating show is coming to TV3 this month.
